“He
Changed the Game….”
Roger Craig holds the record for
the most touchdowns in a Super Bowl.
In Super Bowl XIX, Roger scored
three touchdowns. The next year
he also made history by becoming
the first player to run for 1,000
yards and catch for 1,000 yards
in the same season. Roger led the
NFL in pass receptions by a running
back with 92. In 1988 he was voted
the Most Valuable Player in the
NFL and Sports Illustrated Player
of the Year.
Roger is known as the high-stepping
running back that played eight years
with the world champion San Francisco
49ers. Working closely with legendary
San Francisco 49er coach Bill Walsh,
Roger changed the game of professional
football forever, making the running
back a potent threat as a passing
receiver.
Roger also played with the Oakland
Raiders and the Minnesota Vikings.
He went on to win a total of three
Super Bowls and play in a record
11 consecutive playoffs –
the only player to accomplish this
feat. He made the Pro-Bowl five
times earning All-Pro honors four
times and the Sports Illustrated
Player of the Year. He was also
named to the Team of the Decade.
Sports writers nationwide expect
Roger to be inducted into the Pro
Football Hall of Fame in 2003.
